《1001 Nights Accompanied by COZHOM》No. 1001
Question:
So I can’t sleep again tonight. Does anyone have any tricks to quiet the brain or keep it busy? Everyone that I’ve used has helped but just not tonight. My insomnia js getting worse and I think it’s due to seasonal depression. Every time i feel a slight breeze my brain wants me die lmao. I’m a CNA, and I need sleep to my job properly and not feel like death. Anything is appreciated <3 :)
COZHOM answer:
Hey, I’m really sorry you’re going through this tonight.
Seasonal depression + insomnia is a brutal combo, and when the brain decides to stay awake, it feels like you’re fighting something you can’t see. And doing that while being a CNA? That’s a different level of exhaustion. You deserve actual rest.
Here are a few things that help on nights like this — nothing magical, just things that make the brain a little quieter:
**1. Give your brain a “task” that doesn’t require effort.**
Try this: pick a category (animals, cities, foods) and go through the alphabet.
A =…, B =…, C =…
It occupies the mind without overstimulating it. It’s one of the few tricks that works even when everything else fails.
**2. Try the 4-2-6 breathing pattern.**
It calms the nervous system fast.
Inhale 4 sec → hold 2 sec → exhale 6 sec.
Long exhale = “turning off” the body’s alarm system.
**3. If your thoughts feel dangerous or dark, don’t fight them.**
Label them: “This is my seasonal depression talking.”
Not truth. Not instructions. Just noise from a tired brain.
**4. Give yourself permission not to sleep *yet*.**
Sometimes telling yourself “I don’t have to fall asleep, I just need to rest” removes the pressure and your system unlocks.
